Some common scenarios include:

Personal Doubt

Individuals who have doubts or uncertainties about their biological relationship with a child or father may seek peace of mind through paternity testing.

Family Harmony

Some families may undergo paternity testing to address lingering doubts or concerns about relationship status

Closure

For individuals who have had questions about their biological parentage for years, a peace of mind paternity test can provide closure and a sense of certainty.

Health Information

Knowing the biological relationship between a father and child can provide valuable health information, especially for genetic conditions that may be inherited.

Legal/Court-Admissible Paternity Testing

This test is done using careful procedures to make sure the results can be used in court.

Some common scenarios include:

Child Support or Custody Cases

Paternity testing may be required to establish legal obligations for child support or custody arrangements.

Inheritance and Estate Matters

In cases where inheritance or estate distribution is at stake, proving paternity may be necessary to determine rightful heirs.

Birth Certificate Amendments

In some jurisdictions, paternity testing may be required to amend a child's birth certificate to include the biological father's name.

Adoption Proceedings

When a child is being adopted, verifying paternity might be necessary for legal documentation and parental rights.

Social Security Benefits

In situations where a child may be entitled to Social Security benefits from a deceased parent, proving paternity may be necessary to establish eligibility.

Immigration Cases

Paternity testing might be needed as part of the immigration process to establish biological relationships for visa or residency applications.

FAQ / Things to Know

Is Testing Legitimate And Can I Trust The Results?

Absolutely. We utilize AABB-accredited labs for our testing. These are reputable facilities that exclusively do this kind of testing and adhere to rigorous standards. As a company, we also prioritize ethical conduct and uphold honesty in all our dealings

  • Legal testing follows strict chain-of-custody procedures and documentation to ensure the results are legally admissible in court. For example, all donors must have a photo-ID or be photographed in-office, and this must be included with their samples.

  • Peace-of-mind testing is typically done for personal knowledge or reassurance purposes and the documentation is less rigorous. This type of testing can be performed at home.
  • There’s no minimum age requirement for testing children. We’ve tested infants as young as a couple of days old, and they’re usually unaffected by the cheek swab. Your decision to bring the baby out in public for testing depends on your comfort level.

  • For prenatal testing, the woman needs to be at least 8 weeks pregnant for best results. At this point, there is enough fetal DNA in her blood for the lab to work with.
  • Results for standard paternity or relationship tests are available in under a week, most commonly within 2-3 business days of collection.

  • If there are any non-standard samples, results can take a few days longer.

  • Results for prenatal testing can take between 1-3 weeks.
  • Results of peace-of-mind testing are sent via e-mail. This is collected at the time of testing. We also provide a courtesy call to let you know results have been sent.

  • Results of legal tests are first delivered via e-mail. This is collected at the time of testing. We also provide a courtesy call to let you know results have been sent. The notarized results are received a few days later. You can choose to pick these up from our office or have them mailed to an address of your choosing.

  • Results of prenatal tests are delivered by phone by the lab conducting the test. You then have a choice of receiving a paper copy for your records.
