DOTDOC offers both breath and urine alcohol testing
We find that alcohol testing is usually done either due to court-order and/or probation.
Alcohol testing in the context of probation involves monitoring individuals who are on probation or parole to ensure compliance with court-ordered restrictions, including abstinence from alcohol. This type of testing is usually urine-based and looks at the presence of EtG or ETOH.
Employees in certain safety-sensitive positions, such as truck drivers, bus drivers, pilots, and other transportation-related roles, who fall under the regulations of the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Employees who are involved in workplace accidents or incidents where there is a suspicion that alcohol may have contributed to the event.
Testing is done via breath alcohol content using an evidentiary breathalyzer device.
Alcohol testing in the context of safety-sensitive employees is usually performed randomly as part of a drug and alcohol program, post-accident, or due to reasonable suspicion/cause.
Testing is done via breath alcohol content using an evidentiary breathalyzer device.Â
Urine alcohol tests are lab-based tests used to detect the presence of alcohol or its metabolites in a person's system.Â
Breath alcohol tests measure the concentration of alcohol in an individual's breath at the time of the test.

Urine alcohol tests are used to detect the presence of alcohol or its metabolites in a person’s system. There are 2 main types offered: ETG and ETOH.
This test can typically detect alcohol in urine for up to 80 hours after consumption.
We offer both 5-panel and 10-panel drug tests, each with an 80-hour lookback for alcohol consumption.
We offer two drug testing options: a standard 5-panel test detecting recent alcohol consumption (within the last 12-48 hours) and an expanded test including detection of two additional substances along with recent alcohol consumption (window: 12-48 hours).
Ethanol (ETOH) directly detects the presence of ethanol in the urine. It is less specific than the ETG test, limiting alcohol detection to the last few hours.
The individual blows into a mouthpiece, which directs the breath sample into the device’s sensor. The sensor then uses infrared spectroscopy to measure the amount of alcohol in the breath sample. The device then calculates the individual’s BAC based on the breath alcohol concentration and displays the result on the device’s screen.
DOT drug tests are screenings mandated by the Department of Transportation for employees in safety-sensitive positions. They assess employees for the presence of prohibited substances.
